SWF, Robert Bateman and the Resilient Region

The CRD hosts quarterly breakfast meet ups, aptly called “The Resilient Region Exchange” as it focuses on various sustainability and community building issues.

The venue always changes to help foster a stronger network of participants. In fact, Stephen Whipp Financial hosted a great RRE in the fall of 2012. It was wonderful having such a great collection of folks at our (then) new office.

June’s meet up was at the lovely Robert Bateman Centre in Victoria’s inner harbour. To attendees’ surprise and delight, the artist and naturalist himself was in attendance. We broke from the usual format to give Mr. Bateman some time to share thoughts with the group.

Ever-thoughtful, Mr. Bateman discussed his musings on the state of the world. If that wasn’t enough, he penned this essay and sent it to the RRE organizers for sharing with us.

It just goes to show you never know what little adventures arise when you get out and about in your community!
